I’ve been painting this little yellow rose bush for a few years now. Its color makes me crazy and its fragrance is even better!🙃
In this first step, I quickly trace the volumes with very diluted paint with mineral spirits.
Normally I give a couple of brush strokes with some shades of the flower, usually the lightest and darkest, also adjusting the color as much as possible. I start with the background leaving the flowers unstained. In the petals that are going to have the most reflected background tone I can stain it.
I love playing with the texture of the paint and letting it live itself 🙂
Very happy with the result, I think I have captured the essence of the rose bush this summer afternoon:)
